Custom Drilling

Innovative Drilling designs systems for unusual drilling needs. The company can take existing machinery and adapt it to fulfil specific requirements.

A slim top section of Second Falls Dam in Edmundston, New Brunswick, needed remedial pressure grouting. Innovative Drilling came up with a creative solution to drill at this limited access site. The company wheeled in a drill mast and pinned it to a hinged template. The drill mast was then winched vertically to operate on top of the dam.

Innovative Drilling worked from a cliff side to stabilize a rock face at Fundy Gypsum.

Case study – The base of the aging Little River Wharf was spreading – partially because the sea floor surrounding the wharf had been dredged. For this project, Innovative Drilling created a customized drill rig. They drilled casings horizontally through the wharf at low tide level. The company then installed tie rods that halted base spread and extended the wharf’s life. Innovative Drilling effectively “sewed” the wharf together.

Workers prepared to drill 40 foot casings through the wharf with a custom built horizontal drill.
