Drilled Piles
Innovative Drilling’s niche is drilled piles in limited access and physically challenging sites.
Innovative Drilling took a quarry drilling machine designed for four inch holes and customized it to carry 25 foot long piles and the tooling to drill 20 inch holes. Before the conversion the drill was able to handle 600 pounds, after the conversion it was able to handle 8000. This custom built machine was employed at NB Power Nuclear’s Point Lepreau Generating Station. This project demanded great care as there was a “heavy water” pipe within 5 feet of the drilling area.
The casing was loaded in readiness to drill. Directly behind the man in the bright blue hardhat is a nuclear reactor at NB Power Nuclear’s Point Lepreau Generating Station.
Case study – While the Miramichi Paper Mill in New Brunswick continued operations, Innovative Drilling installed piles. The company was able to drill vertical and battered piles without creating excessive vibration or noise. Their work, completed without incident in 2004, did not affect the mill machines in any way.
The casing was first loaded at the Miramichi Paper Mill in New Brunswick.
Rock sockets were drilled inside these piles and the piles were then completed. Miramichi Paper Mill, New Brunswick.
Following loading, three 30 feet by 12 inch battered pipe piles were installed at the Miramichi Paper Mill in New Brunswick.
