Engineers checked for movement as a 600-ton jack applied pressure in a pile test. The test frame was stabilized and held down by four rock bolts anchored 70 feet below ground. The combined pressure on these bolts was close to 400 tons.

Case study – In 1986, a rockslide occurred at a quarry in Wayla Province, Papua New Guinea due to the undermining of an anticlinal structure. Innovative Drilling’s President, John Hill, lent his expertise to the project by stabilizing the rock face with rock bolts.

“After a fatal rockslide, we thought the quarry would never open again. Using what was locally available, John Hill came up with a system to eliminate the hazard by rock bolting.”
